Here is a petition that over 31, 478 scientist recently signed!!!
"We urge the United States government to reject the global warming agreement that was written in Kyoto, Japan in December, 1997, and any other similar proposals. The proposed limits on greenhouse gases would harm the environment, hinder the advance of science and technology, and damage the health and welfare of mankind.
There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth.''
Here is what Dr. Ron Paul had to say in a speech he gave before congress on June 4.
...we will soon be considering so-called "cap and trade'' legislation that would increase the taxation and regulation of our energy industries. "Cap-and-trade'' will do at least as much, if not more, damage to the economy as the treaty...
It is time that we look beyond those few who seek increased taxation and increased regulation and control of the American people. Our energy policies must be based upon scientific truth -- not fictional movies or self-interested international agendas...
While it is evident that the human right to produce and use energy does not extend to activities that actually endanger the climate of the Earth upon which we all depend, bogus claims about climate dangers should not be used as a justification to further limit the American people's freedom.
Now we've debunked the claims of a consensus many times in this space. But this time, it just seems a little different. Even the democrats are starting to notice.
The House Agriculture Committee Chairman Collin Peterson (D-Minn.) said Wednesday that he's at an impasse with the lead sponsor of a climate change bill strongly backed by Pelosi (D-Calif.), and that his list of Democratic members who would join him in voting against the measure is growing rather than shrinking.
Peterson has warned that the bill put together by Waxman and Energy and Environment subcommittee Chairman Edward Markey (D-Mass.) will fail if agriculture-related provisions aren't altered, and he's said he has as many as 45 votes on his side. That number of Democratic defections would certainly doom the prospects of passing the bill in the House. And while the Agriculture chairman said he's working to resolve those differences and not intentionally trying to torpedo the legislation, he noted that skepticism toward the bill is growing, not shrinking.
It's easy to support the Green Agenda in principle. Who wouldn't want to keep the forests green, the skies clear, the oceans blue and the polar bears happy? But in practice, when faced with the faulty science, the vicious fear mongering from the Radical Green Agenda, and the dire economic consequences their proposed solutions would create, supporting the movement becomes substantially more difficult for clear thinking people, no matter how much they claim to subscribe to Al Gore and the Goracles view.
UNBELIEVABLE
In this case it's more like the Most Egregious Rate Hike of the Week. Duke Energy, which provides 1.8 million residents in North Carolina with electricity, wants to raise it's rates by 13.5% per household. Why?
"...it is expected that greenhouse gas reduction requirements will result in additional compliance costs in the near future."
That's right, they're raising rates in anticipation of global warming legislation - the very same global warming legislation they've been actively supporting. Anyone think their primary motivation is saving the environment?
